I think I ended up about 72% efficiency. Post-boil volume does not account for wort shrinkage. Whirlfloc tablet and yeast nutrient at 10 min remaining.
Feel that the strike temp Brewgr is calculating is way too high. Went with 8 degree loss and hit by target mash temp of 152.
Not sure what happened, but only ended up with 1.065 OG. I can't believe my efficiency was that low (57%)... I've got to believe something else went wrong.
Missed the fuck out of my target numbers. I shouldn't have targeted 75% efficiency in the first place, but ended up with 58%... WTF!!! Totally out of style for a Dobbelbock! Best I can hope for is a Robust or Baltic Porter.Hit 5 gallons in fermenter dead on, but definitely had much less than 3/4 gal BK loss. Perhaps I boiled more vigorously than I thought...?Other than missing the numbers, it was a very smooth brew day. Start to finish in ~4 hours. Cooled with plate chiller which ...
Full volume, overnight, no-sparge mash. Total mash time ~8 hours (11pm - 7am), run-off and boil w/out sparge. This method was a definite time saver on brew day though. I think I definitely lost some efficiency w/out the sparge. Original kit OG was 1.048 but with the extra 1# base malt added I should have been higher but ended up slightly lower.
First AG batch. Strike temp was right but mash temp was too low. Added water to bring up temp but still holding pretty low at around 147-149. Did a 90 min mash to ensure conversion. Post-boil volume was a bit lower than hoped. Next time start with ~7.5 gal pre-boil. OG was a bit lower than expected at 1.051 (target 1.056). Pitched with US-05 (dry) at 58 degrees. Fermentation fridge set to 64.
