- Topped Mash water up to about 5l- Mashed at 67C (digital and mercury thermometers were out, used mercury one in pot)- Kept sparging until I had 5l in the pot- Dry hopped 5 days in (Sun 11th), 12.5g Southern Passion in each fermenter (4.5 litres each)- Bottled on 17 Dec (new fermenter 4.6bx - pink sticker, old 5.1bx). - 16x 440ml, 1 x 340ml, 1 x 440ml mixed dregs (white cap), ½ 330ml.
Mash: 1.6l @ 67C for 45minSparge:- Added 0.6l and did 1st runnings: 12Bx (1.048), ?? litres- Added 0.8l and did 2nd runnings: 10Bx (1.04), total 2.4 litresBoil:- Added 2.5l to boil to bring to 5 litres (in the future bring up to 4.5 litres to leave space for DME & Dextrose & then top up later in the boil): 5Bx (1.02) * In the future do a last sparge of 2litres to bring wort up to 4.5 (rather than just adding water like below)Total Wort: 2.5 litres- Added DME & Dextrose: 24Bx (1.048), 5 litres- ...
Split the batch 5min before the end of the boil (so only a 4.5l batch now), but made a mistake and didn't halve the quantity of hops used at the 1 min boil time, will try adjust the dry hop quantities accordingly, but there's a chance the 1 min boil with double the hops could really up the bitterness.Due to doubling the final hops in the boil I reduced the dry hops to only 5g.FG: 1.018
Split the batch 5min before the end of the boil (so only a 4.5l batch now), but made a mistake and didn't halve the quantity of hops used at Flame out, will try adjust the dry hop quantities accordingly, or just skip the dry hops entirely.I ended up just skipping the dry hops entirely.FG: 1.02
