American porter with added oats for more dextrin body. Porter water profile balanced.
My first full 5.5 gallon batch after I got my Brewers best buckets. The English ale yeast got really fruity on me for some reason and it never cleaned up in the bottles. I think it was influenced by an Extract Edmund Fitzgerald clone online somewhere. Yeast finished highish FG again for WLP002.
American porter I wanted to be with munich and Maris Otter for a more English feel. The WLP002 ended a bit too high on FG.
Recipe based on great lakes Edmund Fitzgerald porter clone from American brewers association website Cap marked "AP 25"

Based on Bert Grant's Perfect Porter. Brewed on 2/16, OG a little low, 1.046 but should be good. Way too much hops for my taste. Especially flavor and aroma. Next time I brew this I'll leave those out. Should have known better. Just realized a few hours later that what I'm most unhappy about is the grassy sort of hops flavor that comes usually from dry hopping.
