This is an updated take on the second brew in my German smoked beer series. It's a moderately strong amber ale with a lot of malt flavor to blend with the smoke. I've had to monkey around with the hop additions to get similar IBU's with weaker AA% hops (a familiar struggle these days). It was supposed to have two 1/4 additions, one at 60 and one at 30 (with 9.6% hops). What Styles Are These Recipes?
It's not uncommon for a homebrewer to craft a homebrew recipe that does not satisfy the specific guidelines of the BJCP style guidelines. For example, a homebrewer might make an IPA recipe and decide they want it to be more bitter or darker than the defined style.
