Mill the grains (including the flaked grains, but excluding the rice hulls). Mix the rice hulls into the grain post milling and dough-in targeting a mash of around 1.5 quarts of water to one pound of grain (a liquor-to-grist ratio of about 3:1 by weight) and a temperature of 122 ?F (50 ?C). Hold the mash at 122 ?F (50 ?C) for 15 minutes then raise the temperature over the next 15 minutes to 150 ?F. Hold until conversion is complete, about 60 minutes. What Styles Are These Recipes?
It's not uncommon for a homebrewer to craft a homebrew recipe that does not satisfy the specific guidelines of the BJCP style guidelines. For example, a homebrewer might make an IPA recipe and decide they want it to be more bitter or darker than the defined style.
There are plenty of great homebrew recipes that fall into this category and they should not be overlooked.
