The Brown Tammy is an American Brown Ale born from the influence of malty English Ales. This dark brown malty beer is smooth, slightly roasty, drinkable, enjoyable and overall quite pleasant. Unlike English Brown Ales, there is no sweetness here but rather a well balanced beer perfect for any occasion.

This recipe was cloned from Brown Moose Ale.

Notes:

After a few years of tinkering with variations of this recipe, I'm finally calling this complete. This beer has proven to be enjoyable glass after glass and is by far the best brown ale I have brewed. This is truly an accessible beer. It is smooth, malty and rich with flavor, yet surprisingly refreshing with mild bitterness and no observable sweetness. This beer does not overwhelm you. It welcomes you, and you quickly find yourself at the end of the glass not quite sure how it went so fast. The body is medium to slightly full and perfectly satiating. It's perfectly soft white foam head laces down the glass nicely as you enjoy its riches.

Notes:

Slightly roasty, mild bitterness, crisp and enjoyable. Half inch constant head, lots of lacing, smooth refreshing finish.

Notes:

Overall a nice drinkable brown ale, but unfortunately the keg I transferred it to seems to have a defect and I'm getting a lot of extra gas in the line, causing an undesirable smoothness, almost like nitro, and with a ton of head.

Regarding your tasting note, try hooking your line up to a different tap. There may be a restriction in the one you're using creating a choked flow.

I think it might be the dip tube. Originally the keg was dispensing super super slowly so I took post assembly apart and found some hop debris in there. I put it back together, and I think I had the spring backward which allowed way to much gas through. I took it apart again, getting the spring right this time, but I noticed that the top of the dip tube, which has a flange to keep it from falling into the keg appeared to be bent up slightly one one side. I re-fitted the assembly, tightened, addd pressure, and while it is significantly better, still has too much gas.

This ended up being the dip tube like I thought. The flange top had a bend, which I bent back into place with a pair of pliers. Keg is dispensing correctly now, and oh my what a difference it makes on the pour and overall taste of the beer.
