This was the best whiskey run we ever had. Runs started at 165 and the average overall was 125 in the barrels. Must have had a lot to do with using distillers 6-row malt. Will use that again.
Started around 5:00 AM with 7 gallons of Crystal Springs water at around 163 degrees and got a mash temperature of around 145 to 146. Didn't have a digital thermometer until I ran to Kroger. Checked it after about an hour and it was around 142-143. Heated it up to 149-150 and let it sit for another 45 minutes.
