Steeped the grains for a full hour @150 - 170F.Added the DME and waited for the boil over. I was not disappointed! Lucky I was out side; removed the pot and a quick job with the hose and all was clean again with minimal loss.Irish Moss and Hops got added - the aroma felt like springtime. Wow in about 2 hours the wort was going with LOTS of action. Had about 30cm of space in the carboy, but sure enough it blew out the top - It got stuck in the tube and a 'minor' mess ensued. A little smaller boil than ususal (~5 gallons) but then topped up in the Primary to get to 1.040s. Menat to add half the hops at the start of the boil and the other half with 15mins, but forgot :). All got added at the start and got a 60min boil. Good action by the next morning, temp holding ~60F on the floor inthe basement - wish it was little cooler, but.... oh well. Yeast was pitched directly - no starter used.Got the carboy into the basement closet at ~50F - looking good , cant waitAprils ...
