Mash Steps

Special Instructions

1.
Specialty grains are steeped in 2 gallons of water for 25 minutes
2.
Another 2 gallons of water is brought to steeping temperature in a separate pot
3.
After specialty grains are finished steeping, they're transferred to the second pot for a rinse
4.
Both pots are brought to a boil and then combined for 4 gallons of starting wort
5.
6 lbs of LME is added at boil, remaining LME is added in final 20 minutes.

hop 1 ounce Nugget at 60 minutes
7.
Add 1 ounce Nugget and remaining LME at 30 minutes
8.
Add chocolate powder and coconut at 20 minutes
9.
Add 1 ounce Willamette at 10 minutes
10.
Cool wort to 75 degrees or less and add 2 packets S-04
11.
Primary for 1 week, Secondary for 2 weeks

Notes:

OG came in at 1.102. Guessing IBU is a little higher than the 44 since I didn't add half the LME until 20 minutes left to boil. Get higher hop utilization this way and less browning of the LME.
