Notes:

Hornindal - Pours 1.5 fingers of foam, medium orange in color, hazy. Aroma is an orange juice, yeast, resin, and touch of sulfur combination; nothing is extremely potent but all are there. Flavor is begins with a sweet malt that quickly moves into pine needles and then transforms into a savory sort of coconut (almost curry) and then ends a resin, pine needle bitterness that almost has a smoke character. Body is medium to heavy and there is some sharpness from the carbonation. My first impression is that this is an interesting beer and the bitterness needs to be toned down slightly. The point of this beer was to showcase the HBC 472 and I think it does that to some extent, but it is getting muddled by the dank/resin of the Strata and the sulfur from the yeast. It is a nice change of pace from most hazy or traditional IPAs so I enjoy that. I would tone down the supporting hops and reduce IBUs on the next go round. 3 stars as it is a nice change but I don't love it.
