Special Instructions

Mash 3.75 gallons with 1.13g Gypsum, 0.75g CaCl, 0.56g Salt, 0.5mL lactic

Whirlfloc and yeast nutrient in with 15 minutes left of boil

No aeration of wort

Roast 1lb of hazelnut filberts to mahogany color, rough chop and add to fermenter after primary is complete, 5 days soak time

Notes:

Pours mahogany in color with almost no foam but it persists. Aroma is sweet wheat bread along with a peanut aroma and toffee. Flavor is sweet wheat bread that quickly morphs into roast flavor, almost a smoked malt, and then ends in a touch of bitterness and pretzel. Body is medium and carbonation is low. Overall it's quite a good beer as it has a really full brown ale flavor. There's not enough nuttiness for me so it is lacking there. 4 stars.
