Mash Steps

Special Instructions

1.
Steep Grains @ 65 degrees for 20 minutes in 5.5 Liters water
2.
Remove grains, add 3.5L hot water, bring to a boil and add extract.
3.
This is a 60 minute boil, add hops according to schedule
4.
Add Irish moss tablet at 15 minutes
5.
Chill wort, add to primary vessel and top off to 21 Litres
6.
Aerate wort, pitch yeast.
7.
After primary fermentation completes, dry hop in primary vessel
8.
Rack to secondary, 5 days after dry hopping

Notes:

So far this is the best beer I've done. It fermented out very well with great head retention. Still a small amount of sediment in bottles that I will look to get rid of. A nicely balanced American Pale Ale with great colour and clarity, some sweet notes that take the edge off the bitter hops. Good aroma and not too strong. Definitely a recipe I'll be trying again.

Notes:

I added 117g of Dextrose to secondary for cabonation, but left it for a week. Then primed each bottle with 1/3 teaspoon of dextrose. Initial flavor tastes like candyfloss. Quite malty as well.
