Notes:

Last pour of the best beer I've ever made. Not trying to toot my own horn here, but this beer was so delicious that I just couldn't stop drinking it, and went from brew day to tapped keg in less than a month, which is very fast for me considering I don't get a lot of folks over who appreciate good beer. This west coast style hop forward IPA is truly a hop bomb and packed with a ton of flavor. The nose is all citrus and dominating...you can smell it when it's sitting on the table. This beer has medium body, is mildly bitter, extremely hoppy, soft white head with lacing all the way down. This beer was very refreshing and not offensive in any way, unless you hate hops which makes you a crazy person.

Notes:

By far my best IPA to date. Clean, citrusy, very hop forward, great nose, long lasting head, and perfect balance.

Notes:

Great nose -- nice citrusy hop character. Pours golden yellow with a thick and foamy white head. Medium body, mildly bitter, strong hop presence (almost too much), again citrusy but also earthy. I feel like the hop flavor is not bright enough...not popping, and I'm not sure if that's a result of the beer being green or something else.

Was it too hoppy or grassy?

Mine, not so grassy, earthy as though. I used a little less late/dryhop though, and more abv/sweetness. If I did it again, I'd use your exact recipe!

Just a quick question. The dry hope stage creates a massive hop bed. How has everyone racked it with so much trub? I typically go straight from my carboy to a keg

Generally, I transfer to secondary fermenter for a week to settle any trub left over from the large amount of dry hops. If you have a spare keg and CO2 bottle you could filter with a filtration kit such as https://www.homebrewing.org/Beer-Filtration-System_p_4560.html

Great thanks that was my thoughts as well

Rookie question. The ingredient breakdown has White Labs San Diego Super Yeast WLP090 listed twice, do I use two packets of the yeast?

  • Haybrews

Yes. Use 2 packs or a starter. 1 pack my be sufficient to promote fermentation, but 2 packs will definitely do the job. Plus, the 2nd pack will aid in clearing this high hopped brew.
