Smash Alesner Recipe

Doing smash beer to get more acquainted with all grain brewing.\n\n1.030 pre boil gravity\n1.042 pitching gravity on 10/22/2023\n1.012 on 10/29/2023\n1.012 FG 11/11/2023\n\n3.9?V\n\nStrike water was 164°F\n\nMash temp stayed between 148-152°F \nMash was 60 minutes\n\nSparged after bag drained with 1.5 Quarts of water\n\nBoil was 90 minutes. \nFirst hop addition at 60 minutes\nSecond hop addition at 15 minutes\n\nIce bath in sink with constant stirring and constantly added ice (used most of 16 lb bag of ice).\nTook about 15-20 minutes to cool the wort to pitching temp of 68°F.\n\nPitched with Safale 05 yeast.\n\nFermentation visible within 6-7 hours. \nAggressive fermentation slowed by middle of day three in primary. \n\n*10/29/2023 - I forgot to do the second hop addition at 7 minutes instead of 15 in the boil a week ago, so this batch will be more bitter than planned. I checked the gravity and put the beer into secondary fermentation in another 2 gallon plastic bucket. Smell was good, color looked good.
