Special Instructions

1.
Strike water: 3.25 gal @ 171F - target temp 156F for 60 minutes
2.
Top off 1 gallon at 158F and stir gently - do not create foam
3.
Empty wort in kettle
4.
Sparge 2.25 gal @ 177F for 10 minutes
5.
Empty into kettle
6.
Sparge 2.25 gal @ 173F for 10 minutes
7.
Empty into kettle
8.
Boil 60 minutes and add hops to schedule
9.
Add Whirlfloc at 5 minutes
10.
Chill to 66F and rest for 30 minutes
11.
Add wort to fermenter and pitch yeast
12.
Hold at 66F for 7 days
13.
Move to secondary and hold for 7 days - check gravity for 2-3 days to ensure finished
14.
Bottle with carb tabs to medium carbonation
15.
Allow 4 weeks at room temp to carbonate

Notes:

Shared several bottles with friends. This is a very toasty, malty beer. Really clean with great color and clarity. This was a big hit with everyone, myself included. This definitely hit the mark for a great nut brown ale. Would not change a thing.

Notes:

Room temperature and not conditioned on bottling day - was milding sweet and toasty with a coffee finish. Not very hoppy.
