This recipe is intended to appeal to the masses (to supply a work-related party) so I wanted to ensure something flavorful, but not bitter or too likely to limit the appeal to any particular style of beer drinker. The Rye should add enough spicy character to balance the minimal floral and citrus hops flavors and aromas.
Well balanced general style of beer that went over very well at a party. Non-craft drinkers liked the flavor. Not bitter, but has some detectable fruity aftertastes and aroma (mainly mild citrus: toward an orangy, mild grapefruit), but not enough to be overpowering. Slightly sweet start, with some bready malt character underlying. Definitely a recommended brew for sharing with the general public.
