For this extract beer, I'm going to attempt to water profile adjustments, though I'm unsure as how to proceed as I haven't been able to find any information about the mineral analysis of Pilsen DME but Briess data sheets do identify that their ingredients are only Pilsner malt, Dextrapils, and Water; that has me thinking that the minerals are quite low, such that sodium. Contrariwise, John Palmer's book identifies not modifying water profile until a recipe has been brewed several times as minerals are added. I'm going to go with a light mineral addition to see where this lands me.
Pours one finger of foam in a slightly brown but more orange color. Aroma is a fruity toast, more of an apple pie and wheat toast. Flavor is a slightly sweet crystal malt with elements of toasted bread, followed by a light orange juice and coffee. Body is more light than medium and a bit of nucleation sharpness. Overall the beer is interesting but not great. This doesn't hit the mark of a pale ale as the hops aren't prominent at all. 3 stars.
