This recipe is based on the White House homebrew recipe that was released on September 1, 2012. The White House released the recipes after a petition and freedom of information act was submitted requesting the release of the recipes. Although getting access to the honey that is farmed on the White House grounds is not very likely, using some local honey ought to work just fine.

Mash Steps

No mash steps in this recipe

Special Instructions

1.
Steep the grains at 155F for 30 minutes
2.
Add the Malt Extract and Dried Malt Extract and bring to a boil
3.
Boil Kent Goldings for 45 minutes
4.
Add Irish Moss and Fuggle Hops and boil for 1 Minute
5.
Add the Honey and boil for 5 Minutes
6.
Use an Ice Batch or Wort Chiller and cool to 70F
7.
Move the wort to your carboy and add the yeast
8.
Ferment between 68F and 72F for 3 weeks

    It actually turned out really good...not much on the nose, but a very balanced beer overall. The honey didn't really come through so I might up that a bit if I brew it again.
