Mash Steps

Special Instructions

1.
Mash 2.5 hours. Grain in @ 55C for 1/2 hour

Then 1/2 hour @ 60C then up to 66C for 1 hrs
3.
Temp up to 70C for 15 mins
4.
Temp up to 77C for 15 mins then sparge at same temp.
5.
pH test of mash - 5.4
6.
Bring to boil
7.
Goldings in after 10 mins. boiling
8.
Other hops in as above
9.
Irish Moss (Britewort) added last 10 mins
10.
Wort chiller inserted for 2 min in boil to sterilize
11.
Flame out last hops in after 5 mins wort rest
12.
Chilled water passed through wort chiller for 30 mins. (26C)
13.
Wort run into fermentation bin and paddle aerated
14.
Made up to 5 gals(UK) with cold water.
15.
Yeast added at 20C SG1.050
16.
5 days later SG1.004 Racked.

Notes:

Very pleased with this sasonal ale. Typical taste with a great colour. Half Bottled half Keg. worked well as both. Will brew again.
