Followed recipe from "Brew It Yourself" book. Speaking with Bart at Dunedin Malthouse after brewing it he thought it might be more like a Black IPA with the large Nelson Sauvin hops addition late in the boil. Almost more excited about that possibility than if it were a straight stout.
Hands down the best beer I've made. Everyone I give some too says it's a ripper. A keeper, even if it was kind of a mistake in that it's not very stouty. Lovely drop.
Only 1.5 weeks in the bottle, so about half way, but couldn't resist a taste. Tasted more like a Black IPA than a Stout, which is what Bart from Dunedin Malthouse had predicted. The Nelson Sauvin hops come through quite strongly and very nicely. Odd that the recipe (which I followed explicitly) is structured like this.
