No hopstand, first mash hop, first Brita filleted water. Pitch - M 1/4 Day 3 - End temp R 1/7 Day 6 - Dry Hop U 1/10 Day 7 - Swirl M 1/11 Day 8 - Dry Hop T 1/12 Day 9-13 - Swirls Day 14 - Cold Crash M 1/18 Day 15 - Keg T 1/19 (25psi) Day 17 - Drink 1/21 Ferm 1 OG 8.1 FG The mash should pasteurize the wort, so no mash out necessary since there won't be a hopstand. Mash hopping smelled great! pH was dead on. Had to do a mash out because the snowy weather cooled everything really quick, and it took 10m to drain the water from the bag from the mash hopping. In tasting the samples drew for measurements, there was some bitterness, so the finished beer should be tasted before adding the extract to ensure that it is necessary. If oxidized beta acids will happen from my process and even from the mash hop, then maybe the extract won't be necessary for a beer at this gravity? Also efficiency was better I'm wondering if the Brita water took out stuff that was negatively impacting efficiency? The beer dropped super clear after 5 days. Minimal hop presence in a sample, but also not overly sweet, so the extract may not be necessary. Swirling many times to drop the hops. Also holding off on bottling so that this is the first kegged beer. The hop tea keeps having some hops on top and some at the bottom. Draw from the ferm was interesting, def a soft hop character, clean, definitely lower IBU but not "sweet" in a traditional sense. Not going to add the extract. Hops have an exhausted look going into cold crash. Kind of has a plastic note, Campden was used so not sure what else if could be unless the new beer lines are doing it? The siphon is also starting to smell like plastic, maybe time to replace that.
