Mash Steps

Special Instructions

1.
Heat 5 gallons of water to 162 degrees
2.
Put grains and salts into mash tun
3.
Add the 5 gal of water while mixing grains thoroughly
4.
After mixing, grain mash should be 152 degrees
5.
Seal tun and let mixture stand for 60 minutes
6.
Begin heating another 5 gal of water to 178 degrees
7.
Slowly draw liquid from tun and pour it on top of grain bed
8.
Continue until liquid being collected from bottom runs clear
9.
Slowly drain wort while adding an equal amount of 178 degree wtr
10.
Collect 6.5 gal of wort and proceed with hop schedule
11.
Boil wort for 5 minutes
12.
Add 1.75 oz of Fuggles hops and boil for 40 minutes
13.
Add .25 oz of Fuggles hops and boil for 10 minutes
14.
Add 1 teaspoon of Irish Moss
15.
After 5 minutes, put chiller in boiling wort to sanitize
16.
Turn off heat
17.
Cool wort to 75 degrees within 30 minutes
18.
Take hydrometer reading (OG)
19.
Pour wort into fermenter and top off at 5 gal mark with wtr
20.
Pitch vial of Clarity Firm
21.
Pitch dry yeast and gently stir
22.
Seal fermenter and ferment at 67 degrees for 5 days
