This was my first really big IPA. I went in on whole hop group buy and I wanted to use them while they were still fresh.

I did a longer boil and the whole hops absorbed some of the wort so I didn't have a full 5 gallons. It came in right around 4.75. Based on the grain bill it says it should be right around 7.6% ABV, but with the longer boil I came in right at 9.3%. It's definitely a sipper. Pound back a few and you'll have to cover one eye just to see straight...The color is also a little lighter than most IPA's. You could always add some darker grains to increase the malt complexity and the color.

I found that this beer really shines when its served in a snifter at 55-66 degrees.

Cyclops are giants with a single eye in the middle of their forehead and a foul disposition. They were strong, stubborn, and "abrupt of emotion". Collectively they eventually became synonyms for brute strength and power.
