Still good enough to drink, but it is past its prime. Hop aroma and flavor have mellowed. I think Mt. Rainier hops have a harsher bitterness/flavor, so fewer hops and lower IBUs would make this better.
This turned out well. Clean flavor, only negative aspect is just a hint of grassy hop after taste, but nothing you wouldn't get from a commercial beer this hoppy. Aroma is quite mellow but but definite lemon/tangerine with a sweet maltiness in the background. Flavor is imensely, but not cloyingly full of lemon, ruby red grapefruit and orange peel. It finishes with a soft nutty malt flavor. Perfectly bitter, I wouldn't want any more bitterness. These hops are nice, very complimentary. This was my first time using Maris Otter and I love it! Rich nutty flavor, almost a shame to use so much hops. Next time I would aim for more balance to bring the malt into perspective. If I made this again perhaps 100% Maris Otter with only FWH and flameout hops?
