This is my first attempt at an apple ale.
Corn sugar is only listed to approximate the effect of the addition of two gallons of apple juice to bring the total volume in the carboy to five gallons. Apple juice has roughly one pound of sugar per gallon. No corn sugar was actually added.

Special Instructions
1.Steep Crystal 20 below 170 for 30 minutes.
2.Remove Crystal 20 and bring to boil.
3.Add extracts and Columbus hops.
4.Start 60 minute boil.
5.Add whirflock (tm) tablet at 15 minutes to flameout.
Excellent!
The apple mostly came through from the aroma, but was less strong than what I was hoping for.
For future efforts, I plant to try a larger quantity of apple juice and less water. While I liked the strength, I'd also like to try a lower gravity version.
