ZD Clone Brew Session

Brew Session Info

5/3/2015
(Include any important notes from brew day until tasting)

5/10/2015 - 5/10 - to secondary, probably lost half a cup to trub, decent bitter not much aroma, decent taste. Will wait a week then add hops for another week 5/10/2015 - my hydrometer reading was 1.034 after boil, but most likely before it was cooled down 5/17/2015 - pretty clear beer, nice amber color, a bit yeasty smelling, no hops aroma - added the rest of Citra (0.5 oz?) in 2 different bags - hard to stuff into bottle/carboy - now we'll see if I ever get them out. 5/23/2015 - transfer to another bottle to pull out hops - an aroma, maybe hops but not wonderful, not bad, taste is nice bitter, nice clear amber color, gravity 1.005, only about 105 oz. Siphoned the beer out into another bottle, leaving the hops bags behind - actually easier to get those out than in. Will bottle later today or tomorrow 5/23/2015 - bottled, 4.5 22-oz bottles 5/30 - tasted, a bit flat - I think I should have waited 2 weeks?? a bit of a plastic background taste not much aroma, a decent bitter

Based on boiling 2.25 gallonsliters at 1.020 for 60 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 1.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.029.

You wanted an OG of 1.057. It looks like it will be under.

Tasted on 6/8/2015 by WyoMikey

Notes:

cooled bottles after just a week - so a bit flat. Actually pulled 2 bottles out and will let them condition for another week. Not much aroma, decent taste but bit of that flavor of the first Dennis hoppy brews I tasted - something sort of plastic maybe or maybe just vegetal.
