I had a 1 liter yeast starter made a week before brewing. i decanted the extra wort off of it and allowed it to come to room temp. I hit strike temperature just fine. It was a great night, weather was about 68 outside. I mashed with 200 degree water to keep the temperature up and to experiment with it.

Gravity Estimates

Based on boiling 8.75 gallonsliters at 1.055 for 60 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 1.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.061.

You wanted an OG of 1.063. It looks like it will be under.

Notes:

Tasted it. Good bitterness. Off yeast character. Maybe I mishandled the starter. i had to throw it in the fridge for about 5 days before I brewed. I decanted the excess liquid off the starter then let it sit out for about 3 hours while I boiled the wort. I did dry hop it with 1 oz Nelson Savingnon and 1 oz of Pacific Jade. Maybe that will change the flavor profile by bottling.
