First brew with the grain tube etc of my grainfather clone. Next stage will be to get a pump. Not sure of what efficiency to expect.

Gravity Estimates

Based on boiling 20.00 gallonsliters at 1.052 for 60 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 3.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.060.

You wanted an OG of 1.053. It looks like it will be over.

Notes:

Something I don't love about this. All the right notes; some chocolatey malt flavours, solid bitterness, some hop character coming through. However, it just doesn't pull together well like the original brew and has a slight green bite to it, maybe I don't like Nugget as a bittering hop? Plus the yeast profile was better with 1272 instead of the dry yeast. I think this batch of Simcoe was a bit old or badly stored too, just doesn't feel fresh to me. Drinkable, tastes quite nice, looks right, well carbed. Just not quite what I hoped for. Considering redoing the original extract and grains recipe rather than all grain?
