All Grain American Pale Ale homebrew recipe. This homebrew recipe uses the following ingredients: 2-Row - US, Maris Otter Pale - UK, Honey Malt - CA, Crystal 60L - CA, Nugget Hops, Perle Hops, Cascade Hops, White Labs California Ale WLP001 Homebrew Yeast.
.Poured into mashtun and allowed to cool to 164? (allowing mashtun insulation to climatize in order to ensure temp stability).
.Mash in grain and mix - Mash temp stable at 153? (8:30pm).
.8am next day (6-26-18) - Mash at 121?. Drained all wort into boil kettle, added 2 gallons water and heated to 193?, constantly stirring. Rolled back into mashtun. Mash stabilized at 160?. Not the 170 I was looking for, but eff it....roll on.
.10am - 8 gallons wort after vorlofting. Tailings @ 1.010. Total @ 1.040 preboil.
.10:30 - Begin boil. Added 1/2 oz Nugget hops and 10 drops of foam killer.
.11:30 - Flameout - Pulled hop bag - 6.5 gallons@ 1.056.
.11:35 - Restart flame/boil (too much volume).
.11:50 - Flameout #2....1.057 with less than 6 gallons.
.12:00 - Begin cooling, draining into carboy strained through clean hop bag.
.12:25 - Added enough water to bring total to 5.75 gallons @ 1.052. That'll work, donkey....that'll work.
.Adjusted brewgr efficiency rating down to 70% to account for the drop in OG. Accordingly, I "should" get an FG of 1.012...
.7-9-18: Racked to secondary. Gravity reads 1.008! Beer is smooth, slightly sweet, bready, malty and "warm" in alcohol. This is going to round out excellent!
