The review from 5/11 was for the variation with peach puree while this review is for the standard. Pours pale yellow with about 2mm of lively head. Aroma is more straw than honey along with a slight funk edge, difficult to describe. Flavor follows the aroma and the mead comes across quite dry with a nearly tart finish but not. The body is thinner and sharp nucleation, no coating of the glass like the peach variety. Overall, the flavor isn't nearly as good as the peach variety, lacking the full honey flavor with that sweetness but it does have some elements. It is well carbonated so I'm quite happy with that. 4 out of 5 stars for the carbonation but missing flavor.
Pours still in pale yellow. Aroma is very strong meadowfoam honey with a slight straw edge. Flavor is similar to aroma but the straw flavor is more pronounced, but still it's a sort of drinkable honey with some sweetness, no alcohol notes. Body is medium, no carbonation, and there are pronounced alcohol legs as the liquid coats the glass. Overall the mead is very good in flavor and I really enjoy drinking. My disappointment in it being still is very high though. I don't understand why this didn't carbonate as I added yeast and sugar at bottling. For flavor I give this a 5 but lack of carbonation weighs this down to a 3.
