Steeped specialty grains in 2 gallons spring water at 140-150F for 30 minutes and rinsed grain bag over strainer with 1 gal at 160 deg. (Later I soaked some of the "spent" grains in hot water and had no further extraction of color). Mixed in 7 lbs Light LME and 2 lbs of DME, 4 gallon boil volume. Added hops per recipe. Cool down from 212 to 95F via immersion chiller in 30 minutes, added 2 gallons 40F spring water to fermenter, pitching temp at 73F. Post boil OG of 1.076 was above recipe ...
