Measured 1.060 after shaking. Tasted pretty good - nice balance of hops to malt and good darker tones. Pitched at about 80F. Put in bag with 62F Caribou Slobber, was 74F and percolating already about 2 hrs. later. 10/22/2016: Has a weird taste that is either chocolate malt or LME. I'm guessing LME since the first Caribou Slobber I brewed turned out great. BUT, that was after aging a few months. Tastes like this brew ALSO needs more hops. Under 20 IBU is WAY TOO LITTLE HOPS! Go for mid 20's to 30's, at least for the bittering hops. It's desperately needed for balance and complexity. Better yet, stay around 0.5 BG:GU ratio. 10/27/2016: Starting to mellow out -- not too bad. Might up the hops just a tiny bit. Maybe go from 2 minutes Hallertau to 10 minutes. S.G. measured at 1.004, which is crazy attenuation. That makes ABV 7.3%! 10/30/2016: Still has a bit of the extract taste and needs a tiny bit more bittering hops. Bump Hallertau to 15 minutes and do all-grain maybe? Check all-grain Caribou Slobber first to see how the hops are working on it. Remember hops will fade over time in the bottle. 11/3/2016: Getting smoother but needs more hops -- too sweet.
