Mash Steps

Special Instructions

1.
Steep specialty grains at 155* for 20 minutes.
2.
Rinse/sparge grains with 160* water into your 4 gallon boil pot to a volume of 3 gallons.
3.
Add the LME and DME when you reach a boil.
4.
Once the wort has returned to a boil add 1.5 oz of the Hallertauer hops.
5.
Boil for 40 minutes before adding the remaining .5 oz of Hallatauer hops.
6.
Boil for 15 minutes, then add the Saaz hops and the Whirlfloc tablet.
7.
Boil for the remaining 5 minutes before cooling the wort.
8.
Cool the wort to 70* or less and transfer to a clean and sanitized carboy.
9.
Top-up the carboy with clean water to 5 gallons.
10.
Record the specific gravity reading at this time.
11.
Pitch the W-34/70 yeast and stir to airate the wort.
12.
Afix your airlock to the carboy and place the carboy in a cool, dark, temperature stable place.
13.
W-34-70 will ferment best at 63*-68*, allow 2 weeks.
14.
Lower temps take longer higher temps take less time, but fermentation will stall at <52* & >75*.
