Mash temp ended up high at 158 (was shooting for 155). Ended up letting the mash sit for nearly 90 minutes as I was busy trying to fix dinner and my 2-year old wanted to run around the house. Drained my first runnings and added 180 degree water back into the mash tun, stirred, and let sit for 15 minutes. First runnings gravity came in at 1.060. Drained into brew kettle, and actually collected 6 gallons of wort. I guess that's better than being a gallon short! There was still wort to be collected, but I didn't want it to lower my SG. Cooled in a large plastic tub. I guess I never completely busted the nutrient bubble in the smack pack, so the pack only swelled for about 2 hours or so. Now I know for next time! With me adjusting water volumes and efficiency calculations, I think I came in around 65%. I won't complain being my 3rd all-grain, and my first on a recently altered wort screen for my mash tun. Sampled a gravity reading on 10/27 as I wanted to move my bucket inside. Tasted pretty good, just a little green. Gravity was around 1.022. I don't have a heat circuit built into my fermentation chamber yet, and the garage is /-55 degrees. Bottled on 11/9. Put a bottle in the fridge on 11/17, will taste on 11/19. Have a bottle share on the 20th that I would like to take some to.
