7/21/2015 - After sparging gravity is 1.034 at 137 degrees, which is about 1.05 adjusted. Estimate ?1.100 if after boil volume is 0.75, hmm. Just 1.75 gallon before boil, sticking to book instructions which suggest considerably less water in sparge, mash - only 2 gal total. After boil, let cool passively to 180 (about 15 min), then add 1 oz Centennial for 30 mins, continuing to cool to 140 after 35 mins, then about 10 more mins with wort chiller to 78. I used a grain bag to separate the wort from the trub, so just poured from boil kettle to primary fermenter bucket. Used a yeast starter (of harvested yeast from 21Jun) which added about 1.5 cups volume. (note last batch I added the hops from hopstand back in fermenter - this time I didn't) With the additional volume the OG is 1.060 or 1.062. 7/29/2015 transfer to secondary - not much hops (or yeast) aroma, alcohol is strongest taste G=1.014. About 2 cups short of full gallon to secondary, with some yeast sediment included. 8/3/2015 moved from upstairs closet to basement because of temps in 90's, so temp probably went from upper 70's to mid 60's 8/8/2015 - added 1 oz Citra leaf hops as dry hop. 8/11/2015 - transferred to another jug to remove leaf hops, add 0.5 oz Centennial pellets, about a full quart short of gallon now. 8/15/2015 - bottled - only about 84 oz into bottles ;-) decent aroma and taste

Gravity Estimates

Based on boiling 1.70 gallonsliters at 1.034 for 0 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 0.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.034.

You wanted an OG of 1.071. It looks like it will be under.

Notes:

nice soft carbonation, some hops aroma definitely in fresh air. Very nice taste only teeny bit of that vegetal/plastic? taste. Definitely my best effort so far. I would pay for this one ;-) citrusy with decent sweet malt flavor
