Tasting Notes (1)

Owl-Head

Tasted on 10/2/2015 by Owl-Head

Notes:

When warm (50° - 65°) it has a nice buttery flavor, not like diacetyl, but almost like caramel. Hints at some pleasant chocolate, molasses, and vanilla flavor. Fills your mouth in a good way but this is definitely not a sessionable beer. The smell is a little bit off and i think next time i would dry hop less and with something different than citra because right now though you do get the roasty chocolate and molasses notes the citra gives it a strange fruity flavor that really doesn't fit with the beer's profile. It is not an unpleasant smell but it just betrays what the beer will taste like. The head on this beer is awesome, easily my favorite part about it. Never rushes up the glass but never recedes while you're drinking it and stays at around a half inch though out; its truly a beautiful white creamy head. The color is extremely dark though some light gets through on the side of the glass. Overall this was a huge success and I would definitely make it again.
