Brew Session: Accidental Porter

Used 2.5 gal strike water and 3 gal sparge water. Forgot to cool down pre-boil hydrometer sample, so didn't get a valid reading at that point. Post boil OG was pretty much on target at 1.054. It was 19° outside, so decided to try to chill wort by sitting it outside covered. Wouldn't cool fast enough, so used ice bath anyway. Pitched 1 packet of US-05 yeast dry and shook to aerate/mix. Fermented using wet t-shirt/evaporation method at 70° ambient.
