Brew day went great! Decoction mash on top of it all. Process is below: Mashed at 131 degrees for 15 minutes, pulled ¾ gallon of grains. Allowed mash to decrease in temperature (did not maintain the 131) while the decoction was going Decoction = bring temp up to 154 two-four degrees per minutes 154 degrees – sat there for 10 minutes Boil – brought decoction up to boil two-four degrees a minute; boiled for 25 minutes Returned decotion to mash and made sure mash temp reached 152 degrees for 60 minutes. Because there is Pilsner malt, this also needs a 90 minute boil Ended with 5.5 gallons…AND hit efficiency :-D
