Mash Steps

Special Instructions

1.
Heat 7.30 gallons of diluted (75%) water to 163 degrees
2.
Measure grain T and adjust strike water T if necessary
3.
Add 2.5 grams gyp., 3.0 grams Cal. Chl., 3.0 grams Epsom
4.
Use 5.0 gallons for striking and 2.3 gallons for sparging
5.
Add some strike water to tun and stir in grains
6.
Mash temperature should be 152 degrees
7.
Seal tun and let stand for 60 minutes
8.
Heat sparge water to 170 degrees
9.
Slowly drain liquid from tun and pour back on top of grain bed
10.
Continue until liquid is clear
11.
Slowly drain wort while adding sparge water
12.
Collect 6.5 gallons of wort and proceed to hop schedule
13.
Boil wort for 5 minutes
14.
Add .75 ounces of Citra hops
15.
Boil for 40 minutes
16.
Then add .75 ounces of Citra hops
17.
Add 1 teaspoon of Irish Moss
18.
Boil for 10 minutes
19.
Then add chiller to boil for another 5 minutes
20.
Remove wort from flame (flameout)
21.
Add 1 ounce of Citra hops
22.
Cool wort to 75 degrees within 30 minutes
23.
Take hydrometer reading (OG)
24.
Transfer wort to primary fermenter (top off at 5 gal)
25.
Pitch vial of Clarity Firm
26.
Pitch 2 packets of Safale US-05 yeast
27.
Seal fermenter and store at 67 degrees
