Special Instructions

20 min hopstand

mash 5L / kg aprox? end up with 40L aprox

adding a can of coopers amber malt extract

using water additives for the first time

heat 28.5 L to 164F / 73C - mash in slowly - temp should arrive at 152F / 66C, (aim for 63-64) - rest for 60mins,
6.
heat 15L to 202F / 94C - and add that to the mash tun, the temp should equalise to 75C / 167F - leave for 15 mins
7.
sparge with 21L 77C / 172F water (optional)
8.
After all mash runnings are collected, record preboil gravity. Bring wort to boil.

Notes:

SG: 1.13 on day 10, needs to age for awhile, bitterness is a bit harsh, i think this is the ADHA hops, apparently it's done, plan to transfer 2 x 19L kegs into a larger keg, then mix 12L with 4-6L of remaining galaxy warrior IPA and some black hole dark ales in a 19L keg.

Notes:

heat 28.5 L to 164F / 73C - mash in slowly - temp should arrive at 152F / 66C, (aim for 63-64) - rest for 60mins, heat 15L to 202F / 94C - and add that to the mash tun, the temp should equalise to 75C / 167F - leave for 15 mins sparge with 21L 77C / 172F water (optional) After all mash runnings are collected, record preboil gravity.
