Our setup lost 4 degrees F every 15 minutes of the steep.We needed to pulse the heat at the 15 minute mark during our steep. Started the "clock" and added our first hops after the risk of boil over subsided. Added the 0.5 Whirlfloc tablet at 15 minutes which resulted in an attempted boil over for the remainder of the boil. After the boil we added 3.66 gallons of icy water to bring the wort up to 5 gallons. 77F pitching temperature was immediately achieved after water addition.
