The main takeaway from the mash for this brew is that I need to be setting aside wort to be used for gravity measurements. I've been taking them fairly hot and compensating with hydrometer correction calculators, but I've recently learned that there is an upper limit such that going over a certain temp will give you unpredictable readings that can't be corrected accurately.
