BREW DAY Increased Grain Bill by approx 3 kg to hit OG - Starting Fresh - recalculated water infusion steps (need to calculate mash tun efficiency today) - mashed at 66 for 60 mins - mash strike volume = 43L - HERMS circulated mash every 20mins to maintain heat and create grain bed - lautering at 1.5L per min - Used 30L Pot Lid for Fly Sparge on top of grain bed (started sparging 15 mins after conversion to boil kettle) - sparge water temp is 74 - lauter took nearly one hour - grain bed was well settled but a large channel on HLT side maybe from pot lid sparge? - pre-boil OG is 1.67 (at room temp) - Brewhouse efficiency calculator suggests the BBC Mash Tun efficiency is 'off the charts' - MASH TUN EFFICIENCY IS ?? - Boiled for 60 mins - hops included as per recipe plus Irish Moss included with Flavour hops - NO hop bag used - NEW inclusion of false bottom in Boil Kettle - post boil OG of 1.060 - topped off with 2.5 to 3L of filtered cold water to reduce down to 1.55 OG - Put fermenter in final position - i.e. NO unnecessary movement after pitching yeast FINAL BATCH SIZE = 56L WHAT WE COULD DO BETTER - Add about 1.5L to 2L to sparge - Reduce Grain bill slightly - 4L short in the batch size? need to increase the boil size by 4L to 6L (we added 2 to the wort and fell 4 short) PRIMARY FERMENTATION SECONDARY / CONDITIONING BOTTLING

Gravity Estimates

Based on boiling 68.45 gallonsliters at 1.049 for 60 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 6.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.053.

You wanted an OG of 1.054. It looks like it will be under.
