2x starter over 2 weekend, 6 cups with 1.5 cup dme & yeast nutrient
Treated 10 gallons of water:
2.5 gallons tap, 7.5 gallons distilled
3 grams gypsum
1 gram calcium chloride
1.5 gram sea salt
1/4 camden tablet
Preheated mash tun with boiling water
173 in kettle
168 in mash tun
154-155 at start of mash
Only added the light malts, added dark @ 10 min (60 min mash)
154F @ end of mash
7 gallons in kettle
Running and quantity in journal
added 1/4 camden at start of boil
Used hop spider, worked great, next to nothing in the bottom of the pot.
Watched for kinked hoses with new tubing
whirlpool was not oriented correctly but there was not much sediment in the kettle
took to 75F before tapping into fermenter
5 gallons in fermenter, boiled off 1.25 gal, lost some to the cooling system and tubuing
Forgot to take OG measurement, can probably come close with calculation
Pitched entire flask, did not drain off top. Quick start to fermentation
In kegerator set at 65
