Pump and Dump Ale Brew Session

Brew Session Info

(Include any important notes from brew day until tasting)

About 7.5 gallons finished volume, closer to 4 gallons in the lager tank and 3.5 gallons in the wheat beer tank. Most of the pumpkin dissolved in the bag during the whirlpool, but the wort had a really big pumpkin aroma so I'm happy with that. No aeration, one packet of S-23 in the lager tank and then 80% of a packet of WB-06 and a bit of a packet of S-04 in the ale tank. 10/4 - bottled today. Ale finished at 1.0096. Lager version at 1.011.

Gravity Estimates

Based on boiling 8.50 gallonsliters at 1.045 for 90 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 1.50 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.053.

You were planning on an OG of 1.053 so you are right on track. Nice job!

Tasting Notes (1)

CheeseNips

Notes:

Pours 2 fingers of foam in a dark orange color. Aroma is a light hefeweizen yeast phenolic, that's it. Flavor is dominated by yeast phenolic but there is an edge of pumpkin spice if you search for it. Body is light to medium and it's quite sharp due to carbonation. Overall, the beer tastes like a wheat beer with a hint of pumpkin pie spice, so it is not successful. I want more malt flavor on this and more pumpkin spice but I don't know if that's possible with this yeast. I won't be using WB-06 again for a beer like this because it dominates. 2 stars for being just okay as a pumpkin beer, but it would only be 3 stars as a wheat beer.
