Ithaca Flower Power Clone Brew Session

Brew Session Info

3/25/2019
(Include any important notes from brew day until tasting)

Mash temp came in a little high, I stirred for a few minutes and brought it quickly down to 155.1, called it good and mashed for 90 minutes. Temp at the end of the mash was 154.2. Wort is beautiful light gold. I came in a bit heavy on volume, about a quart and .002 on gravity from the recipe. Smooth brew day, I'll ferment around 63 and ramp to 68 over the course of a week or so. Took a gravity reading today, this is sitting at 1.012, I'm gong to move to secondary with the dry hop and bottle in a week or so. Bottled 4/12/19 and ended up with 57 bottles of very clear light gold beer with great hop flavor and a nice bitterness. I'll taste test in two weeks.

Based on boiling 7.25 gallonsliters at 1.056 for 60 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 1.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.064.

You wanted an OG of 1.072. It looks like it will be under.

Notes:

Excellent IPA, this turned out nicely, it has a hint of sweetness and body from the honey malt and has nice bitterness and really good hop flavor and aroma. I think the malt bill here would be nice just about any hop combination. The beer is clear and yellow gold with good head retention and the carbonation is just right. All in all, it hit the marks I was looking for in a DIPA
