Your Left My Right Milk Stout Brew Session

Brew Session Info

(Include any important notes from brew day until tasting)

First runnings are 1.042. I was able to get a bit more runoff than I anticipated so I'm boiling without the lid on. Pitched 300mL of yeast slurry. Stall lasted for 6 hours. 8/10 - all fermentation activity has stopped. I will let this set for a few weeks until I can save up enough bottles for packaging. Prior to bottling, I'd like to make a cinnamon tincture and add that during bottling to about 1 or 2 gallons of beer. 8/29 - bottling today. Pulled 1.025 on the pycnometer. During bottling, added Stok cold brew coffee with 3 gallons to go, then added some cinnamon tincture with 1.5 gallons to go. Also during bottling, I used cbc1 yeast, rehydrating as instructed, 22g of water for 2.2g of dry yeast. Flavor is very roasted and sweet with a thick body. Interesting...

Based on boiling 6.75 gallonsliters at 1.038 for 60 minutes, this will decrease your wort by 1.00 gallonsliters, bringing your after boil OG to 1.044.

You wanted an OG of 1.055. It looks like it will be under.

Tasting Notes (1)

CheeseNips

Notes:

Pours black and 3 fingers of foam. Aroma is slightly sweet, toasted bread that ends with a slight yeast aroma. Flavor is nutty with slight coffee, almost a slight ash flavor, and then some yeast phenolic. Body is a little more than medium and has high nucleation sharpness. Overall, not too bad but I'd like a denser body and more nut and bread flavor, maybe some richer chocolate. I was going for chocolate milk and that is not there. 3 stars as I enjoy the beer okay but it is not what I wanted.
