When ingredients were purchased this was meant to be a stout. Ingredients sat for about a year and a half. Changed plan on brew day to try a dark IPA. Had 8 ounces of Cascade that had been in the freezer for a couple of years. Also had several packs of s-04 out of date that were used. Awful. Do not use this. Only fermented to about 3.3% ABV. Worst thing ever brewed. Poured almost all of it. Did try to freezer distill to get ABV up, but taste was not drinkable.

What Styles Are These Recipes?
It's not uncommon for a homebrewer to craft a homebrew recipe that does not satisfy the specific guidelines of the BJCP style guidelines. For example, a homebrewer might make an IPA recipe and decide they want it to be more bitter or darker than the defined style.
There are plenty of great homebrew recipes that fall into this category and they should not be overlooked.
