This is a Cascadian Dark Ale recipe that a friend won from Whidbey Island Homebrew Supply (see Facebook page). He promptly deployed and gave me the kit with the promise that I would brew it up and have it for him upon his return. Instead of keeping it for that long, I decided to brew it now and then purchase the ingredients closer to his return (freshness counts!).Preboil gravity 1.047. What Styles Are These Recipes?

It's not uncommon for a homebrewer to craft a homebrew recipe that does not satisfy the specific guidelines of the BJCP style guidelines. For example, a homebrewer might make an IPA recipe and decide they want it to be more bitter or darker than the defined style.

There are plenty of great homebrew recipes that fall into this category and they should not be overlooked.
