Redo of E-Fowty with removal of Mosaic hops. Going to experiment with brewing a concentrated wort and adding 1 gal of water to the end of the boil to both cool wort and increase volume to 3 gals. Recipe will be based off of 3 gals for the mash as a concentrate but use the amount of water for a 2 gal batch. Adjustments will be made in brewgr.com software as a reference point. Water to be boiled, sanitized and cooled to 35F the night before! Last of Simcoe in Flameout to be left for 10 mins before adding water/cooling. The problem was found to be in the brewgr.com infusion calculator. Only thing you have to change if adding 1 gallon to the end of the boil, is to remove that 1 gallon from the mash/strike volume. So, next time use 2.3 gals for mash/strike volume. Water will need to be hotter as well for less volume. So, need to subtract 1/3 of the qt/lb mash thickness while keeping everything else in the calculator the same. Number should be around 0.87 yielding a mash temp at 170F. Add 2F to get 172F and then add the grains to make the concentrated wort. Preboil OG: 1.042 Post boil OG: 1.05 Post boil after adding 1 gal: 1.052? questionable FG: 1.016 after 1.5 weeks FG after secondary: Time in secondary: 5 days LEFTOVER BEER: OG: 1.060 20 min boil 0.1oz Simcoe @20 mins 0.3oz Chinook @ flameout let sit for 10 mins and cool pitch the yeast slurry from E-Fowty first hoppy, then ethanol-like, tastes like bourbon barrel at first then like licked an envelop
